Rochester to get new intermodal train station

October 26, 2010
By Jay Rowe

Rochester has gotten $1.5 million in federal funding for an inter-modal train station.  Secured through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, this money will go directly to the design of a new high-speed passenger rail/bus station on Central Ave.  The present station was built in 1978 as a temporary replacement for the demolished Claude Bragdon-designed station built in 1914.  Additionally, money will be used to temporarily upgrade the current station for ADA standards.
